FOTD #16- Sexy Smudge

It's clearly a FOTD kinda week! This was inspired by this Lisa Eldridge video- practically none of it is actually using the same products, it was definitely more 'inspiration' than a copy.

Face- no foundation or powder
Accessorize Merged Baked Blush in 3 Pretty Pink
Brazen Cosmetics Mineral Blush in Perfect 10

Eyes- Loreal Super Liner in Black (upper lash line)
Sleek Ink Pot Gel Liner (on lower lash line)
17 Va Va Voom Mascara in Black

Lips- Badger Balm Highland Mint Lip Balm
Revlon Colourburst Lipstick in Crimson

I love this look, it's sexy enough to wear out but also undone in a French, day after party way. You can't see but the Brazen blush is THE most glitterery thing in the world, I looked a bit discoball for day! I'm loving the Carbon Liner (which is the same or similar to the one Tiffany D mentions all the time). Even ham fisted people like me can apply it and make it look ok! Not keen on the Sleek liner on the waterline, adore it as a gel liner on the upper lash line though.

Also a brief hair shot:

I have no idea what to call this. French twist ponytail thing? It's super easy to do: make a low ponytail at your neck and secure with a hair tie, pull the hair tie out a little bit (only a little), make a little gap above the tie and loop your ponytail up through the front of the gap and pull down. Hopefully that's clear, but if you try it it's incredibly simple and looks awesome! It is slightly better though if your hair is a bit sleeker than mine is here, especially for a night look.

FOTD #15- Autumn Walk Look

This day's make-up was to go for a walk round a big local park, so it was full of lots of green and pink colours!

Face- MUA Pro Primer
Revlon Colourstay Foundation in 110 Ivory (Comb/Oily formula)
elf Complexion Perfection Powder
Accessorize Merged Baked Blusher in 8 Quiver

Eyes- Rimmel Exaggerate Waterproof Eye Definer in 250 Emerald Sparkle
Rimmel Extra Super Lash Building Mascara in Black

Lips- Sleek Pout Polish Spf 15 in 949 Perfect Plum

I always forget how amazing and pigmented the Pout Polishes are, must get more! Same for the Accessorize blushes- beautiful, I have two more on the way. I do like this eyeliner- not for waterlines, but for a pop of colour it's fantastic, and so easy to do (but looks like you've made an effort!). And photos from the walk:

SQUIRREL!

This llama is clearly a badass.

My baby. He so cute :)

Don't run on wet fields kids. It's a dumb idea.

FOTD #12- A Sad FOTD, but with new hair!

This FOTD is a sad one... I was dressed up to go to an interview, which I thought went ok, but I didn't get the job. So it kinda sucks looking back through these! However in better news, I can show you my new hair colour. I went for Superdrug's Colour Radiance Intense Rich Chestnut Brown:

Medium to dark brown right? LOOK at my hair in the photos below! It's actually black. In a weird way I don't mind this- my hair was dyed black for about 5 years when I was younger. I loved it being so dark, but it really sucked all the colour out of my face and was really obvious when the roots grew out. This is still a little harsh (it'll probably soften after a few washes) but I actually rather like it!

Face- Gosh Velvet Touch Clear Primer
Gosh X-Ceptional Wear Foundation in 11 Porcelain
elf Complexion Perfection Powder

Eyes- Gosh Velvet Touch Eyeliner in Black Ink (on lower waterline)
Sleek Ink Pot Gel Eyeliner in Dominatrix (Black) (on upper lash line)
UDPP
MUA Pro Heaven and Earth Palette (can't remember which shade)
No 7 Lash Adapt mascara

Lips- The Body Shop Lipstick in 22 Garnet

Of note here is the Sleek Ink Pot Gel Liner- I really love this stuff! It's really easy to put on (I use a little brush from an Urban Decay Palette), it goes on easily and lasts all day without smudging or looking harsh. It's understated but really properly good.

Lipstick Forever #3- Sleek True Colour Lipstick in Cherry

Packaging: I'm a bit unsure whether I like this Sleek packaging. It is certainly unfussy, but it kinda lacks something for me. Although being small and light makes it easily transportable, it also means it lacks some of the presence you get with a metal case.

Colour: I found this colour SO annoying to photograph! It's actually a deep pink fuchsia blend, but it seems to look really red in these photos! There's a hint of red in there, but it really is pink.

Smudged to show the pink/fuchsia undertones.

Application: Again... I'm not sure. It's smooth and doesn't drag when you put it on, but... hmm. You know those lipsticks where they just won't go onto your lips straight? And they look wonky and uneven as a consequence? This lipstick does that. Maybe it's my application, maybe it's an unforgiving lipstick, but some lipsticks do it and some don't. It's a pain but I didn't feel very happy wearing it.

Kiss Test: That's quite a lot coming off there.

Lasting Power: There seemed to be a lot of colour coming off, but it did fade into an even stain, and was still on after 6 hours and a meal.

I'm not a huge fan of this lipstick, and I don't quite know why. It's highly pigmented and lasts fairly well, but it smudged at the sides of my mouth really easily, and just didn't seem to go on well. It is a good lipstick though, maybe I was in a hyper-critical mood.

For me it was a 5/10, but probably ought to be a 7!

Beauty LAT: Some goodies from MUA and Sleek

I was really excited to try the MUA Pro range when it was released and have been looking for it ever since. Except.... I haven't seen it anywhere. Not a single shop. Nada. I must have been to 7 or 8 Superdrugs (some quite major ones) and it doesn't seem to exist! So I gave up and ordered a few bits from online....

MUA Pro Matte Foundation

MUA Pro Heaven and Earth Palette

MUA Pro Starry Night Palette
Although I'm not a huge shimmer shadow fan, these two palettes are really beautiful and have fantastic pigmentation, especially for the price! I already had Shade 2 of the Matte Foundation, which I was given by the lovely Lena from The Student's Guide to Nail Polish, but it was sadly too dark (this was before they were up on the website so I didn't know where it stood in the range). I bought Shade 1 instead to try out.

I also went shopping and found the Sleek Oh So Special Palette which I had my eye on. I do like it, although the shades and names are a bit eclectic.

Despite not being much of an eyeshadow girl, I seem to be getting a fair few palettes lately!

Beauty LAT: Sleek Pout Paint Review

I thought it fitting, just after reviewing the elf Liquid Lipsticks, to show a new product that has no problem with a lack of colour!

I spotted these on my shopping trip this week: the Sleek Pout Paints (as distinct from the Pout Polish lipbalms).

I hadn't even heard about these being brought out, and they've only been out a week or so. The line that hooked me was the promise of it being a 'highly pigmented lip stain'. I'm a sucker for a good lipstain!

I got: (l-r) Port, Pin Up and Peek-a-bloo.

Port is nice, but has a little too much fuchsia for my liking. I do love Pin Up, it's a gorgeous red. Peek-a-bloo I actually really like! It's a shame that it's sky blue, because it's a bit crazy for day wear, but for dressing up it would be amazing.

The first claim, the 'high pigmentation'- they really aren't joking. This really is a liquid version of a lipstick. They say on the tube 'a little goes a long way', and I completely agree with that. You need to put these on carefully with a lip brush if you don't want to look like a kid playing with your mum's make-up.

Pin Up applied with lip brush.
The second claim of being a 'lip stain'... it is. Sort of. It's more like a long lasting lipstick than a lipstain per se. A lipstain to me dries instantly, whereas this is a liquid and can smudge off if you aren't careful (blotting after applying helps a bit). It does last for ages though, even a full meal didn't get much of it off.

A warning though: this does stain, to its credit. But it stains everywhere, lips and fingers and whatever you get it on. It's a bit of a nightmare to remove (I still had some on the back of my hands after I'd washed up). It also means getting the application right first time is pretty crucial. I'd recommend lots of baby wipes and cotton balls to get it all off!

I am now multicoloured.
In short, if you treat this as a liquid, long-lasting lipstick, you'll love this. Great colours, cheap price and lasts ages. For those looking for a low maintenance lipstain, you'd be better looking elsewhere!

8/10, as it's a bit more high maintenance than I'd ideally like.

These are priced at £4.99 from Superdrug, and I got these on a 3 for 2 offer.
